چکیده

Introduction: Congenital proximal radio-ulnar synostosis is a rare congenital anomaly of the upper extremity which severely disabling as it causes severe pronation deformity. So aim this study was to assess efficacy radioulnar derotational osteotomy followed by internal fixation for treatment synostosis.Materials and Method: Between June 2018 April 2020, 11 patients with CRUS who underwent at site were evaluated. There 7 boys 4 girls. The mean age time surgery 10.5 years (range, 2 13) years. forearm derotated goal position (20 degrees supination 10 pronation) using plates plaster splints external immobilization. Pre- postoperative positions recorded; function evaluated based on classification system proposed Failla et al.Results: follow-up duration 6 months. initial deformity 65.0 ± 5.2 (55 80) degrees. correction achieved 75.27 5.25 (50 90) degrees, resulting in final 9.45 3.25 pronation). Based system, forearms rated good, fair preoperatively. At follow-up, 9 excellent good. All bone union after weeks. Post-operative period uneventful no complications seen. Conclusion: Proximal plate safe feasible procedure low complication rate. technique can effectively improve forearm.

Safety and Efficacy of Derotational Osteotomy for Congenital Radioulnar Synostosis.

BACKGROUND Congenital radioulnar synostosis (CRUS) refers to an abnormal connection between the radius and ulna due to embryological failure of separation. Derotational osteotomy has been advocated for children with functional limitations, although historically this procedure has been associated with a 36% complication rate including compartment syndrome and loss of correction. METHODS A retr...

congenital radioulnar synostosis: a report of 11 cases and review of literature

during the last 10 years, we have had 11 cases of radioulnar (ru) synostosis, a very rare congenital amomaly of the upper extremity. only 3 of them required surgical intervention. so we evaluated these three cases of proximal radioulnar synostosis corrected by proximal derotational osteotomy. the indication for surgery was severe pronation deformity that caused functional problem. mean age at t...

Two-stage double-level rotational osteotomy in the treatment of congenital radioulnar synostosis.

Congenital proximal radioulnar synostosis is a rare congenital anomaly that can be extremely disabling, especially when it occurs bilaterally or if there is severe hyperpronation. Currently, osteotomy to achieve a neutral or slightly pronated position is widely accepted for the management of patients who have severe pronation. The present study evaluates the result of two-stage double-level rot...
